Some Photos of Our Work

School Gardens

  • Sam Thomas:

“Harrington Porter, in conjunction with key staff members, transformed an unused area around two buildings, at our school in Clapham, into a harmonious green space for all the children. The children love having this additional area to their playground, with one child exclaiming, ‘Now we’ll never need to go on a school trip. We’ve got it all here!’ Harrington Porter have proved to be reliable and consistent and have been a pleasure to work with.”

  • Having built the school owners private garden we were commissioned to landscape an large unused area, creating an attractive but practical garden for children aged 3-11, teachers and parents.

After a large amount of clearance, removing old 1920’s pebble dashed concrete storage units, we set about the construction of the garden, styled to compliment a newly built contemporary classroom extension.

  • Required to fill the needs and aspirations of several people and age groups, it was designed to include an play area, an outdoor classroom, a pond, a growing area, storage, attractive but practical planting, and a seating area for lunch and waiting parents.

The area was subsequently designed in zones: Play area, Pond and seating area, Outdoor classroom, Growing area, Woodland walkway, and 2nd smarter seating area.

Each zone highlighted by blown up fencing sized, different themed photographs of the British countryside (Scottish Highlands, New Forest woodland, Somerset farmland), as a back drop to each zone.

  • Features include artificial grass for all year round use, a range of indigenous planting for kids to start the learning process about Britain’s plants, a pond, raised veg. Beds and rustic tables and log seating so kids can learn outside, a climbing frame fort, “telly tubby” hills, and several different seating areas.
