Minimalist Garden

  As far as residential, family gardens go, they don’t come much more low maintenance and minimal than this. The owners of the garden, which backs on to the Hurlingham Road, wanted a low maintenance extension to their smart contemporary home and working closely with the client their garden was designed and built.

  The garden is directly south facing and is a real sun-trap so the design was based around two large sun shades and clean simple shapes. The garden consists of a number of main components influenced by the family’s lifestyle and needs.

• Features include 2 x electric shade umbrellas, a hardwood deck that runs completely level with the interior floor allowing concertina doors to open out across them, an exterior porcelain terrace, an artificial lawn, an outdoor shower and a BBQ area. The minimalist style is accentuated with contemporary pots, clipped Buxus cubes, white rendered walls and gun-metal grey cladding. In addition extensive lighting and automatic irrigation.

  Built in the same style is a bedroom roof terrace with sun loungers and front entrance / garden with “intercom” front gate, brick bin store and matching porcelain paving.
